The Difference Between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette

When buying a perfume, you will often see terms like Eau de Parfum (EDP) and Eau de Toilette (EDT). Many people get confused, but the difference between them is simple — it’s all about fragrance concentration and longevity.

Eau de Parfum (EDP) contains a higher concentration of perfume oils, usually between 15–20%. Because of this, the scent lasts longer, often 6 to 12 hours depending on the ingredients and your skin type. EDP fragrances are richer, deeper, and perfect for special occasions, evening events, or colder weather.

On the other hand, Eau de Toilette (EDT) has a lighter concentration of oils, usually between 5–12%. This makes the scent softer, fresher, and more subtle. EDT perfumes typically last 3 to 5 hours. They are ideal for everyday use, office wear, or hot weather when you want something light and refreshing.

Neither EDP nor EDT is “better” — it depends on what you prefer. If you enjoy strong, long-lasting fragrances, then EDP is the better choice. If you prefer something gentle and easy to wear, then EDT is perfect for you.

EDP usually has stronger base notes like amber, musk, or vanilla, while EDT has fresher top notes like citrus, lavender, or green notes. Understanding these helps you choose the right perfume for your lifestyle.

At Dua Azeen, we offer carefully crafted perfumes in both EDP and EDT versions so you can choose the concentration that suits your mood and occasion. Whether you love bold scents or soft fragrances, knowing the difference will help you make a confident choice.
